Senior Hamas figures in Gaza say a humanitarian prisoner exchange deal could be reached soon.

According to them, the window of opportunity that opened up for the possibility of executing a barter deal more than six months ago at the start of the global corona outbreak, has now reopened due to the scale of the epidemic outbreak in Gaza last week.

Hamas' biggest concern is a loss of morbidity control due to a severe shortage of basic medical equipment, sterile and sanitary equipment, a shortage of corona laboratories and tests, and a severe shortage of respirators, medicines and medical staff.

A senior official involved in the recent indirect talks between Israel and Hamas mediated by an Egyptian security delegation and the Qatari ambassador for Gaza reconstruction, Muhammad al-Amadi, told Israel Today that Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, is aware of the coronation outbreak in Gaza and the price the plague could Loss of control over the disease will roll to the door of Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, and responsibility will be placed on the organization and its leadership.

According to him, Sinwar, which is in the midst of an election period, wants to achieve as much economic achievement and easing the siege on Gaza as possible, first and foremost to provide money for salaries for Hamas members and associates, money for treatments and grants to Korona victims in the Gaza Strip. Extensive to the medical institutions in Gaza that will allow them to deal with the corona plague.

"It is not for nothing that the talks to calm the border with the Egyptian mediators failed, but the talks that Sinwar had with the Qatari ambassador al-Amadi were successful and an agreement was reached within a few hours," said the Palestinian official. "

The senior Palestinian official wanted to emphasize that "this conduct by Sinwar and the fact that Hamas was careful not to fire and did not launch rockets at Israel even when the Israeli air force attacked Gaza, express more than Hamas signals that it is interested in a deal with Israel, and now is the time."

Former senior security and intelligence officials in Israel also claim that this is a window of opportunity that has been opened to reach a deal with Hamas that will lead to the return of the bodies of the late Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, and information about the fate of Hisham a-Sayed and Abra Mengistu who crossed the border into Gaza. .

Former Mossad official David Meidan, who reached a deal with Hamas that led to the release of Gilad Shalit after five years in captivity, said yesterday in an interview with the B network's lunchtime diary that "this is the most appropriate time for a humanitarian deal with Hamas to return the boys."

Meanwhile, the cabinet today approved the demand of Defense Minister Bnei Gantz not to return the bodies of terrorists, even if they are not affiliated with Hamas.

This follows the publication in "Israel Today", according to which Ganz intends to tighten the criteria for returning the bodies of terrorists, and not to release them except in exceptional cases.

Ganz: "Failure to return the bodies is part of our commitment to maintaining the security of Israeli citizens."
