Members of the Homs Fire Brigade were able this morning to extinguish a large fire that broke out in the woods of a village near Ali in the Wadi Al-Nadara region in the western countryside of Homs.
Colonel Osman Juda, commander of the Homs Fire Brigade, told SANA's correspondent that after a two-day effort, Homs firefighters took control of the fire in the area and managed to put it out this morning, and cooling operations are currently taking place in the area to prevent the renewal of the fire.
Juda pointed out that the difficulty of the terrain of the area prevented the firefighting mechanisms from reaching all areas of the fire spreading quickly enough, pointing out that the regiment, the civil defense and the Agriculture Directorate made great efforts over two days, in addition to the use of technical service cadres, the police command and the aid of the Health Directorate in Homs to provide all capabilities. The fire broke out yesterday at the administrative borders of Homs, Hama and Tartous, and affected long-lived forest trees in a rugged geographical area.
