Belgian singer Annie Cordy, who was born in Brussels in June 1928, died on Friday at the age of 92 in Vallauris, near Cannes, in the south of France, her niece Michèle Lebon told AFP.

Her real name Léonie Cooreman, this spicy blonde was the interpreter of popular hits like

"Tata Yoyo"

and

"La bonne du curé".

Former prime ministers Elio di Rupo (2011-2014) and Charles Michel (2014-2019) also saluted his memory in the evening, on Twitter.

The second, who became President of the European Council at the end of 2019, underlined

A photo of this public tribute in the summer of 2018 was tweeted by the mayor of Brussels Philippe Close, who regretted the loss of

“an honorary citizen”
