Erdinger Weißbräu is expanding its management team and is preparing a generation change.

At the same time, the brewery is reintroducing the “Champ”, which is particularly popular with young people.

Erding - owner Werner Brombach appointed Dr.

Stefan Kreisz (50) appointed to the management.

Initially, he runs the business together with technology boss Peter Liebert.

In the middle of next year Liebert (65) will leave the company after 25 years.

"In his 21 years as managing director with us, Mr. Liebert has made a great contribution to the success of my brewery," said Brombach.

The designated successor Kreisz has been Head of Quality Management, Research and Development at Erdinger since 2015.

He has a great deal of brewing experience.

Before moving to Erding, the 50-year-old was Vice President Development for Carlsberg in Denmark and France.

Kreisz received his doctorate from the Technical University of Munich-Weihenstephan and worked at the brewery chair there.

He completed his habilitation while working for the Danish biotechnology company Novozymes.

He is also active in several specialist committees, including the Experimental and Training Institute for Brewing in Berlin (VLB) as a member of the board of directors as well as chairman of the technical and scientific committee (TWA) and chairman of the advisory board for the promotion of science of the German Brewers' Association.

The Erdinger management now consists of Liebert and Kreisz in the field of technology, Josef Westermeier in sales and marketing and Dr.

Stefan Huckemann for finance, controlling and IT.

Something is also happening in production: Erdinger is relaunching a popular classic - the “Champ” in a 0.33 liter bottle.

For years, the small wheat beer was aimed primarily at younger customers.

Many can still remember the legendary parties on the brewery premises.

Now there is “Champ” again in gastronomy and retail.

It is traditionally drunk from the bottle.

As with conventional wheat beer, a second maturation takes place in the bottle and it is brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law.
