"It emerges from the first investigations of the operational inspection relating to the socio-judicial monitoring of Mr. François V. conducted since Saturday, August 29, that the monitoring of this file by the judicial authorities and by the penitentiary service of integration and probation (SPIP) presents no breach and no dysfunction, ”

writes the Ministry of Justice in a press release published in the evening.

The General Inspectorate of Justice was tasked with investigating the implementation of socio-judicial monitoring, including this man, aged 45, who was released from prison in 2016 after serving an 18-year sentence. of criminal imprisonment for nine rapes, three attempts and one sexual assault committed between 2001 and 2003, was the subject.

This team leader in a brickyard was indicted, in particular for intentional homicide, and imprisoned on August 29 after admitting to having raped and killed a 15-year-old girl whom he had lured into ambush.

The firefighters had discovered the body of the young girl on August 20 when they had been called for a fire in the attic of a house under construction, in the city center of Nantes.

The General Inspectorate of Justice, which is due to submit its final report on October 30, will look into

"the continuity of care provided during confinement under the authority of the coordinating doctor"

of the accused, said the ministry statement, which adds that the IGJ will work

"also on the means of control available to the judge of the application of sentences in terms of socio-judicial monitoring"

, as well as working relations between

"the actors of the legal worlds and the health".

During a press conference at the end of August, the assistant prosecutor of Nantes, Yvon Ollivier, assured that the suspect respected all the obligations of his socio-judicial follow-up, in particular the injunction of care, and that he saw

" every two months ”

a psychotherapist.

Created in 2016, the IGJ notably exercises an inspection and control mission over all the bodies attached to the Ministry of Justice and the courts of the judicial order.
