The new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hong Kong continues. The Correctional Services Department announced today (5th) that all one person in custody in Lai Chi Kok was initially diagnosed, the first case since the epidemic.
The 54-year-old male patient used to be separated from another newly admitted person in custody in the same cell at the Siu Lam Psychiatric Center and another newly admitted person in custody. He was sent to the West Kowloon Court yesterday (4th). According to the news, he was found to be unwell and feverish when he was transferred to the Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre. He was then rushed to a public hospital and was notified of a preliminary diagnosis this morning.
The Department stated that the person in custody who shared the cell with him is currently asymptomatic and is still under isolation and medical supervision.
The Education and Training Department announced that a person in custody at the Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre was initially diagnosed with COVID-19 today.

In response to the epidemic, the Correctional Services Department stated that all newly admitted persons in custody are now subject to isolation and medical surveillance, and the hospital doctors of the Department of Health will conduct virus tests on them as needed.
On the 21st of last month, the court sentenced a 54-year-old man to Xiaolan Psychiatric Treatment Center for remand to obtain a psychiatric report. The institution quarantined him according to the established mechanism. During this period, he was isolated from another newly admitted person in custody. In the same cell, the two did not come into contact with other persons in custody, and had been conducting temperature detections, and their body temperature was normal.
The 54-year-old person in custody was sent to the West Kowloon Court to appear in court yesterday and was later transferred to the Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre.
After arriving at the hospital, the management found that he was unwell and had a fever. He was then sent to a public hospital for treatment. He was notified of a preliminary diagnosis this morning.
The department stated that he was wearing a surgical mask during his stay in and out of the hospital.
