Occupied Jerusalem - SANA

A new settlement scheme announced by the Israeli occupation threatens to seize large areas of Palestinian land in the city of Tulkarm, as it aims to establish outposts in the villages of Shufa and Jabara, south of the city, and link them through a network of roads with settlements established in the city of al-Taybeh in the Triangle area and Wadi Ara in the occupied Palestinian territories in 1948. It undermines any chance of establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The governor of Tulkarm, Issam Abu Bakr, explained in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the Judaization scheme targeting the south of Tulkarm includes the seizure of 800 dunums of the lands of the villages of Shufa and Jabara and isolating the towns and villages in the south of the governorate from its north, pointing out that the occupation began implementing this scheme by leveling the lands of the two villages and displacing the Palestinians From their lands as part of the so-called "deal of the century", which is rejected by the Palestinians and internationally.

Abu Bakr indicated that during the previous period, the occupation seized three thousand dunums of the lands of the village of Shoufah, and plans to seize 80 percent of its lands to implement his new threatening plan in addition to the seizure of areas of the lands of the village of Jabara. And resistance against the occupation to prevent it from implementing its American-backed plans.

The head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Walid Assaf, explained that this plan is the largest and most dangerous in the city of Tulkarm since its occupation in 1967, because it threatens to separate the city from its southern countryside and from the city of Nablus, which would prevent the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that is geographically continuous.

For his part, the official in charge of the settlement file in the northern West Bank, Ghassan Douglas, said that the occupation seized large areas of Tulkarm lands before the new threatening plan due to the apartheid wall, indicating that the occupation will demolish Palestinian homes and real estate in the village of Jabara as part of the implementation of this plan that extends to 300 dunams. From the lands of the village, what constitutes a new catastrophe for the Palestinians who live in it, while the international community is silent about the crimes of the occupation and the processes of Judaization and displacement of Palestinians.

The head of the Shoufah village council, Fawzat Droubi, explained that the occupation authorities severed the village, as it established two settlements in its center and east. The Apartheid Wall also devoured large areas of its lands from the west, while a settlement road divides its lands from the south into north and south.

Droubi pointed out that the new settlement plan will take over the lands of the Palestinians in the southwest of the village, indicating that the occupation has announced that the area of the new plan is 800 dunums, but in fact it is much larger as it threatens to seize 1500 dunums of Palestinian land.

Rami Odeh from the Jabara village council pointed out the danger of this scheme on the Palestinian presence in the south of Tulkarm, especially that the occupation is practicing ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian presence by demolishing houses, uprooting trees and placing barbed wire on large areas of Palestinian land, explaining that the occupation forces are constantly attacking farmers. And prevent them from accessing their lands in preparation for the implementation of the colonial Judaization schemes.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Barghouti, stated that the Judaization scheme targeting the villages south of Tulkarm constitutes a new catastrophe for its people, calling on the international community to work to stop the occupation schemes, the crimes of ethnic cleansing and displacement targeting the Palestinian people.

The Secretary-General of the Palestinian People's Party, Bassam Al-Salihi, affirmed that the Palestinian people are steadfast on their land in the face of the crimes of the occupation and will drop all their plans supported by the American administration aimed at seizing 60 percent of the occupied West Bank to prevent the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
