Sweida-Sana
As-Suwayda Agriculture Directorate established a food processing unit in Habran village, after processing it under a grant provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO” and under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform.
The head of the Rural Women Department in the Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida, Eng. Mohsen Abu Samra, explained in a statement to the SANA reporter that Habran was chosen to create this unit due to its richness in grape crops and fruit trees that can be manufactured as grape molasses, raisins, jams and dryers, in addition to other local products.
Abu Samra pointed to the importance of the unit in securing job opportunities for a number of rural women who were trained by the department in addition to giving added value to the agricultural product and manufacturing it according to the approved Syrian standard specifications.
The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida previously created 13 food processing units during the last period under a grant provided by the World Food Program in cooperation with the Federation of Agricultural Chambers.
