If you live in Denver, your summer plans may have been canceled at the last minute.

City residents will go from experiencing record heat to preparing for a sudden snowstorm.

The city expects a drop of more than 30 degrees Celsius in daily maximum temperatures, from 38 degrees Celsius on Saturday to the 0 degrees Celsius forecast for this Tuesday.

Sunday was also a bit hot, with a high of 36 degrees Celsius.

Strong wind gusts with cold fronts, as well as rain and snow, are expected Monday night, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver / Boulder announced in a situation report.

"A drastic change in the weather will occur Monday night and Tuesday, with record or near record heat replaced by winter conditions, record snow and cold," NWS said.

"Significant snow accumulations can be expected in the Front Range and Foothills Mountains, while the Denver metro area and the I-25 corridor can also see wet and muddy snowfall early Tuesday morning."

A deep freeze is expected to occur Tuesday night after temperatures drop in the area, according to CNN meteorologist Michael Guy.

Denver temperatures were around 34 degrees Celsius this Monday at 2 p.m. before plummeting from Monday night to Tuesday morning.

A low of 1.6 degrees Celsius is forecast for Monday night.

A drop of 30 degrees is historic for a city where such fluctuations are not unheard of.

Denver will need a drop of more than 30 degrees below to jump to the top five of the records in the city's meteorological history.

As temperatures continued to rise over Labor Day weekend, warm temperatures, dry conditions, and gusty winds prompted critical fire hazard warnings, forced evacuations, and the closure of the main road through the National Park. Rocky Mountain.

By Monday, warm weather accelerated fire growth on Cameron Peak to 36,144 hectares with 4% containment, according to the United States Forest Service (USFS).

Until the cold front passes through the area Monday night, many of Colorado's mountains are very hot and present a critical fire hazard.

The snowfall, which is expected to be 3 to 14 inches, may smother the Cameron Peak fire or put it out entirely.
