The Belgian conductor Patrick Davin, a contemporary music enthusiast who has notably officiated in Marseille and Mulhouse, died on Wednesday September 9 at the age of 58, just before a rehearsal at the Monnaie in Brussels, the theater announced.

Patrick Davin, trained at the Liège then Toulon conservatory, was notably a student of Pierre Boulez.
Finalist in the Besançon international competition in 1992, he has performed numerous creations, notably for opera.
First guest conductor at the Marseille Opera in 2004, he was artistic and musical director of the Orchester symphonique de Mulhouse from 2013 to 2018, and had just been appointed director of the musical department of the Royal Conservatory of Liège.
As a conductor, he has also worked in Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria, but also in South Korea and Japan.
