More than 650 hectares of agricultural land have been affected by the fires in Homs since the beginning of this year

Homs-SANA The fires that have hit Homs Governorate since the beginning of this year to date have affected more than 650 people.

The fires in Homs governorate since the beginning of this year have affected more than 650 hectares of agricultural land, including more than 482 hectares of fruit trees and more than 176 hectares of agricultural crops.

Engineer Yunus Hamdan, head of the Plant Production Department in the Homs Agriculture Directorate, said in a statement to SANA that with regard to fruit trees, the damage is distributed to “olives, apples, apricots, vine, figs and almonds,” and that for agricultural crops, the affected area is mostly wheat, in addition to barley and galbanana.

Hamdan pointed out that the damages of the fire in Palmyra's oases, such as olive, palm and pomegranate trees alone, amounted to 2,200 dunams.
