A Norwegian MP has proposed US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021.

The reason is Trump's efforts to mediate between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, said Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who sits for a right-wing party in the Norwegian parliament.

Trump had achieved a "one-time deal" with his peace policy, he justified.

It is the second time that Tybring-Gjedde has proposed Trump for the award.

In 2019, he cited his diplomatic efforts in dealing with North Korea as the reason.

This year he also nominated him because of the troop withdrawal from Iraq.

The Norwegian Nobel Prize Committee did not want to comment on the submission.

Trump's policy has contributed to peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and thus enables further peace in the Middle East, said Tybring-Gjedde.

"No matter how Trump behaves at home and what he says at press conferences," said the Norwegian, "he definitely has a chance to get the prize."

Israel and the United Arab Emirates intend to sign an agreement in Washington on September 15 to normalize their relations as announced in mid-August.

US President Trump is expecting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the United Arab Emirates' Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Said, to attend this "historic" date, the White House said.

The agreement would make the Emirates the third Arab country, after Egypt and Jordan, to have diplomatic relations with Israel.

Thousands of people around the world can submit nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize, including members of parliament and government, university professors and previous Nobel Prize winners.

Several hundred suggestions are regularly received.

The deadline for proposing this year's candidates was January.

The recipient of the 2020 Peace Prize will be announced in Oslo on October 9th.
