A new book by the poet physician Wajih Al-Baroudi has been published by the Syrian General Authority for Book within the “Cultural Horizons” series, prepared by the writer Nizar Najjar.

Najjar talks about Al-Baroudi's life, starting from his birth in a rich and luxurious home in Hama in 1906, his experience of the events of the First World War, his primary and secondary studies, and human medicine at the American University, and later graduated as a general practitioner in 1932.

He pointed out that Al-Baroudi's poetic talent, his marriage, and the death of his wife after he had ten children, and his life changed after that, and took another direction in which poetry had a large share.

Najjar touched on the poetic effects of Al-Baroudi, which included the publication of his first collection of poetry, “Between Me and Al-Ghawali” in 1950, then “This I”, so that “The Master of Lovers” is the third collection in his poetic career.

He alludes to what distinguished Wajih’s poetry, which constituted a true revolution against outdated values ​​and prevailing norms. He was one of the first pioneers of the progressive revolution against feudalism, social injustice and class inequality.

It is noteworthy that Nizar Najjar was born in Hama in 1949, the reporter of the Children’s Literature Association in the Arab Writers Union. He has dozens of story collections and has received many honors and awards, including the Ministry of Culture Award in Syria and the Jerusalem Prize from Iran.
