The Ministry of Transport announced that a plane belonging to the Syrian Airlines has arrived at Damascus International Airport this evening carrying 194 Syrian citizens coming from Baghdad International Airport in Iraq, as part of government efforts to return Syrians stranded abroad due to the Corona pandemic.

The Syrian ambassador to Iraq, Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah, explained to SANA's correspondent in Baghdad that this flight, which is part of the government effort to secure the return of Syrian citizens to the homeland, is the second to be organized from Baghdad airport and the third from brother Iraq, where two flights have been organized from Baghdad and Erbil airports.

He added that the embassy has completed all procedures in terms of preparing the lists and supervising reservations in coordination with the office of the Syrian Aviation Corporation in Baghdad and obtaining the necessary approvals from the competent authorities in brotherly Iraq, whether in terms of securing the necessary landing permits or for providing all necessary facilities for the community members during departure.

Al-Dandah pointed out that the Iraqi side showed great response to the success of this trip and taking into account the conditions of residence for travelers, taking into account the exceptional nature of the trip and the difficult conditions that the community members are going through.

Al-Dandah emphasized that the Syrian embassy in Iraq is keen on making any positive initiative successful in the interest of the people of the country residing abroad and working under the directives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the government team concerned with dealing with the Corona virus.

The Ministry of Interior recently called on Syrian citizens wishing to return to contact with embassies in “Cairo, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Amman, Kuwait, Khartoum, Manama, Moscow, Algeria and Baghdad” to register their request for their desire to return to Syria so that the special government team can prepare a program for Syrian aviation flights as part of the government's efforts to return Syrian citizens from the outside.

Since the fourth of last May, Syrian Airlines began operating flights to evacuate Syrian nationals who wish to return from countries around the world to Syria, according to lists registered through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates at embassies and diplomatic missions.
