Deputy Director of the Food and Health Bureau Xu Deyi pointed out that the number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong in the past three weeks was 21.2 on average from August 20 to 26, 13.7 on average from August 27 to September 2, and 10.1 on average from September 3 to September 9. Although the overall number of confirmed diagnoses has declined, cases with unknown origin are still worthy of attention.
Xu added that in the past two weeks, 30% of cases of unknown origin have shown that there is also an invisible transmission chain in the community. So far, 23% of the more than 4,900 confirmed cases have been identified without clinical symptoms, that is, 1,100 people have no symptoms and were infected at the same time. The opportunity to spread the virus reflects the importance of early detection and diagnosis.

As of 2 p.m., a total of 1.33 million tests had been completed. In order to identify invisible patients in the community early, the government will popularize the community. The plan is extended to September 14 and the target is asymptomatic citizens. People are urged to seize the time to participate.
Xu Xu said that the government is gradually relaxing social distancing measures. The new measures include restricting business premises operations, prohibiting groups of four or more people from gathering and wearing masks, which will take effect from tomorrow to 17.
Xu You pointed out that in the third wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong, the average number of cases in the seven days at the end of July was as high as 128. He hopes that the public will continue to work hard to avoid a rebound.
