But Musk did not find the driving performance great.

VW boss Herbert Diess does not want to sit on him.

  • Tesla

    boss

    Elon Musk

    has

    tested

    the fully electric ID.3 from

    VW

    .

  • The

    multi-entrepreneur was not that impressed

    by the

    performance

    .

  • VW boss

    Herbert Diess

does not want to let that sit on him and

    send

    a

    super sports car

    to the start

    .

Munich - When it comes to testing your own vehicles,

VW

boss

Herbert Diess

doesn't let anything go wrong.

Just a few weeks ago, the engineer in Munich borrowed an ID.3 from the company in order

to whiz

with his daughter Caro to

Lake Garda

.

Now the doctor of engineering has brought an at least as competent test driver on board the fully electric

ID.3

: Tesla boss

Elon Musk

.

In a video published on LinkedIn, the two car bosses roared across the wet tarmac at

Braunschweig-Wolfsburg

Airport shortly before 10 p.m. on Thursday evening

.

The ID.3 is a “mainstream car, not a racing car,” says Diess as a precautionary measure when exiting the hangar, dampening the expectations of the US multi-entrepreneur.

Then Musk, accompanied by a flashing follow-me vehicle, does a few laps and praises the steering.

For the fact that the ID.3 is not a sports car, it is "quite good".

Then it's off to a short sprint on the runway.

What could be the worst that could happen now, asks Musk and quickly accelerates.

Diess remains calm and refers to the built-in "typically German state-of-the-art equipment such as the lane keeping assistant and the emergency aid systems" and somehow it seems as if a start-up boss is an industry heavyweight from the advantages wanted to convince of their own development.

It is

VW: Great inertia in Wolfsburg

But the

VW

boss knows about the power of images - also in internal communication.

Since the Munich-based company took over the management of the

VW

brand at the end of 2014

, Diess has been vehemently trimming the brand and now the entire group towards e-mobility.

In

Wolfsburg

, not everyone shares their boss's enthusiasm.

How great the perseverance still is in one's own team was only just revealed when the new company car regulation was introduced.

By the end of the year, a third of the Group's own fleet should be electric.

Internally there was a lot of noise.

VW: Group boss Herbet Diess declares war

But the 61-year-old was neither deterred by this nor by Musk's minor complaints about the manageable torque of the

VW

test vehicle and immediately sent a declaration of war: The ID.3, wrote Diess on LinkedIn, was “not a sports car.

For that you should

try

our

Porsche

Taycan.

I'm looking forward to our next meeting. "

The new fully electric ID.3 from VW was not well received by the trade press either.
