A huge and unprecedented wave of fires is raging in the state of Oregon in the United States.

The country's fire and rescue services are battling more than 35 fires, which spread over more than 300,000 acres, causing extensive destruction and damage to hundreds of buildings in five major cities in the country while the state governor warned tonight (Thursday) that "the worst is yet to come."

Over the last 24 hours, Oregon has experienced unprecedented fires, with devastating consequences across the state.

Our number-one priority right now is saving lives.

This could be the greatest loss of human lives and property due to wildfires in our state's history.

- Governor Kate Brown (@OregonGovBrown) September 9, 2020

Commenting on the wave of fires that hit her country, Kate Brown, the governor of Oregon, said, "Over the past 24 hours, Oregon has experienced unprecedented fires, with devastating consequences across the state. Our first priority right now is saving lives."

In a series of tweets, the Oregon governor referred to the scale of the disaster plaguing the country and said, "This could be the biggest loss of human life and property following fires in our country's history."

The American news agency AP reported that the fire and rescue forces are battling both powerful fires and strong winds at speeds of up to 80 km / h that make it difficult for firefighters in their work. At the same time, AP reported that officials in several communities in the west had to inform residents to evacuate quickly. What are a few minutes to get organized before leaving.

"Listen to instructions given by firefighters, officials and emergency services. If you are asked to evacuate do so immediately. Your election could save lives," Brown stressed. Brown later noted that five towns were destroyed by the flames and hundreds of homes were destroyed: "Detroit in central Oregon, Blue River Vida in Lane County, Phoenix and Talent in Southern Oregon "Significantly Destroyed

Despite the enormous damage and numerous evacuations, no casualties are currently known in the country, although due to the weather and strong winds, which as mentioned help the fires spread, there is a growing fear of late evacuations, with hundreds of homes and buildings damaged by the flames already known.

In Oclacas County, Oregon, home to nearly 420,000 people, residents have been instructed to prepare for evacuation if winds increase and fires continue to spread.

In the city of Medford, Oregon, near the California border, 80,000 residents are preparing to evacuate due to a powerful fire raging in the south of the state.

The California fires

Three people were found dead during the night following a huge forest fire that erupted due to a lightning strike in northern Sacramento, California.

The three current victims, whose bodies have been found by authorities in two different hotspots, are bringing the death toll in California as a result of huge fires to 11 people.

Since mid-August, the California fires have led, as noted, to the deaths of 11 people, three of them overnight, demolishing thousands of buildings, and leading to the evacuation of many residents of the state.

One of the reasons for the huge fires and firefighters' difficulty is the historic heat records recorded in California.

A temperature of 49 degrees Celsius was recorded in the San Fernando Valley, and is the highest ever recorded in the Los Angeles County.
