The Casa del Rey assures in a brief statement that the Kings and the Infanta Sofía will follow "the regulations and health indications"

Princess Leonor's class has been confined this Friday after a classmate tested positive for coronavirus.

The heir to the throne of Spain had started the course at the Santa María de los Rosales school last Wednesday.

Today, Queen Letizia had taken her daughters to school, the first day of class for the Infanta Sofía.

The House of the King assures in a brief statement that the Kings, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía will follow "the regulations and health indications", without further details on what measures they will adopt.

Don Felipe and Doña Letizia have a busy schedule of events for next week and this will continue, as long as there is no indication against it and following sanitary regulations.

Princess Leonor will undergo a PCR following the protocols.

At the beginning of the pandemic, when the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, was infected with coronavirus and coincided in an act with the Queen, she decided to isolate herself as a precaution despite the fact that she had tested negative in the PCR.

When someone tests positive, all their close contacts (in the case of a school, their bubble group, in another context, who has spent more than 10 minutes within five feet) have to undergo a PCR test and, even if they give negative, keep a quarantine of 14 days, which can be shortened to 10 if after that time there is a second negative test.

Although the test does not detect the virus in the Infanta Leonor, she will have to be confined, but not her family, who would no longer be considered contact.

I would only do it in case it tested positive.

The return to school of Leonor, 14 years old and who will turn 15 in October, took place on Wednesday.

Infanta Sofía, who turned 13 in April, has returned this Friday, but she wanted to accompany her sister on this first day of fourth year of Compulsory Secondary Education before starting her second year of ESO.

Leonor arrived at school in a car driven by her father shortly before 8.30.

Like all children over six years of age in all schools in Spain, the princess came with a mask, which she did not remove at any time, not even in greeting the photographers who gathered at the doors of the center to portray her.

At the entrance, her temperature was taken.

Neither the King nor the Infanta Sofía got out of the car or posed with Leonor on Wednesday, since the school's recommendations are that students arrive with a single companion.

This Friday, Queen Letizia was in charge of accompanying the Infanta Sofía.
