Senior Israeli officials today (Friday) called in a joint letter to government ministers not to close businesses as part of the struggle in Corona.

"The fact that there is a proposal on your desk to close businesses in Israel again is completely detached from understanding the unprecedented economic effects created by the first closure."

It was also stated in Matav: "We will be full partners in applying restrictions that will travel to reduce morbidity, but let us work and do not hinder the ability to recover from the first closure - business on the brink of an abyss and without reserves."

The letter is signed by the chairman of the local government center, Haim Bibbs, the chairman of the regional council center, Shai Hajaj, the chairman of the new workers' union, Arnon Bar-David and the heads of the business sector organizations headed by Dovi Amitai.

In addition to the letter to the ministers, other senior officials wrote a letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu asking him not to stop the economy and not to go to another closure.

"Compared to the 'first wave' into which the Israeli economy entered with economic resilience and a debt-to-GDP ratio of only 60%, with our entry into the 'second wave' we are facing a complex situation in light of the economy's deep economic crisis. "Its impact will be far more devastating compared to Corona's health, given the threats of total closure."

"Businesses in Israel will not be able to bear another 'general closure' on their backs, and the expected government measures will be an unnecessary fatal blow, as aggressive measures can be taken to cut the contagion chains without harming the economy, the economy, businesses and employees in Israel.

We will be happy to appear before the government. "Since it is unlikely that this critical decision will be made without understanding the implications on the ground."

The letter to the Prime Minister is signed by: Chairman of the Presidents of Employers and Businesses and President of the Manufacturers Association Dr. Ron Tomer, President of the Association of Chambers of Commerce Adv. Uriel Lin, Chairman of the Israel Agricultural Association Avshalom (Abu) Villan, President of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants Ofir Sarid CPA Iris Stark, CEO of Melisron Dedi Riesel, Chairman of the Association of Commercial, Fashion and Catering Chains Shai Berman, CEO of the Restaurants and Bars Association Haim Frenkel, CEO of the Fitness Industry Forum Eyal Halevi, and the Action Committee Conferences, Events and Culture.

The National Insurance Institute is preparing for another closure

According to the National Insurance Institute, anyone who has already been in the Knesset and returned to work, and will go to the Knesset again, will be entitled to unemployment benefits.

The only condition is that the additional sick leave is at least 14 days. Such an employee will not have to file a new claim with the Social Security since his previous claim is approved by June 2021. He will only need to report.

In addition, the National Insurance Institute will allow employers to report the removal of workers to the IDF in a centralized manner next week.

Guidelines on how to report centrally for employees will be posted by Tuesday.

Employers were asked to wait for instructions to be published next week and not "run" to report on Sunday.

The National Insurance Institute estimates that if 200,000 citizens return to the IDF, the cost of unemployment benefits will be NIS 920 million a month. For 300,000 unemployed, the cost will be NIS 1.4 billion a month.

It was also reported that the National Insurance Institute has continued to work in an emergency format since March, when in addition to the increase in claims for unemployment benefits, income support and nursing, there is also an increase in claims for work disability (Corona patients infected at work), bankruptcies and more.

The National Insurance Institute stated that "Social Security has continued to work 'on an emergency basis' since March, when in addition to the increase in unemployment benefit claims, income support and nursing, we are beginning to see an increase in work-related disability claims, bankruptcy and more."

"Currently, the director of the Defense Department and the Corona Supervisor at the National Insurance Institute reported that out of all the institution's employees: there are about 25 patients in the National Insurance Institute and 187 isolates, which is over 5% of the total employees. "Except for 6 employees. Except for 6 employees, all patients were infected outside the walls of the organization. It should be emphasized that the work in the organization is done in accordance with the" purple character "guidelines and due diligence also due to the fact that Social Security was defined as an essential institution for this crisis period."
