A new British study revealed that one out of every hundred patients infected with Coronavirus suffers a hole in the lung, which increases the complexity of treating the infected.
In the study published by the European Journal of Respiratory System, researchers from the University of Cambridge said that young people of tall stature or older patients with underlying lung diseases are more at risk of developing a lung perforation while undergoing treatment for severe Covid 19 infection.
The researchers found that severe infection of Covid 19 can cause cysts in the lungs, which may in turn cause tears and holes in the external tissues, and they observed an overall rate of 0,91 percent of patients with acute corona who suffer from perforation of the lungs.
According to the researchers, nearly two-thirds of patients who suffered a hole in the lung survived, indicating that men are three times more likely to have a punctured lung compared to women.
