The apology of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not satisfy the family members of Yaakov Abu al-Qiaan.

The family members have filed a civil lawsuit, demanding the establishment of a commission of inquiry headed by a judge, and clarifying: "We will not forgive Alsheikh for his remarks."

They also intend to open proceedings against Shai Nitzan, Roni Alsich and Gilad Ardan.

Nearly four years since Jacob's death, his family has been living the tragedy every day.

They are still angry and are still looking for answers and a personal apology from the prime minister.

"He should come here and apologize to Yaakov's mother and also to his children," says his brother Ahmad.

Family members claim that since that difficult event in which Jacob was killed, their lives have not returned to normal, as ten of his children still live in the unrecognized village, without a proper home, and expect the state to compensate them.

Nearly four years and nothing has changed.

A life frozen in the shadow of death.

"The apology comes late and it is not enough," Ahmed adds.

He said the severe injury continued after the incident, when then-Commissioner Roni Alshikh called Yaakov Ben Avala.

He and Arden should apologize and stand trial. "

Immediately after the incident, the family members claimed that Yaakov was not a terrorist and that he did not try to run over the police, but on the other hand the police insisted that he was indeed a terrorist.

On January 18, 2017, police arrived to secure the demolition of houses in Umm al-Hiran, clashes broke out between police and residents during the demolition, and in the early morning hours, Yaakov Abu al-Qian was killed by police.

During the shooting, Abu al-Qi'an ran over policeman Erez Levy to death, and police claimed he was a terrorist who deliberately ran over police officers.

The family claimed from the beginning that this was not an attack.

GSS interrogators who arrived at the scene also told police investigators that it was not a terrorist attack, but the police were not convinced. "The truth has always been with us," Ahmad explained. "My brother was shot in cold blood while asking for help from the police." At the time, Shai Nitzan helped the police whitewash the police failures.

"He helped them whitewash, I do not know why.

"Netanyahu apparently received information that this was indeed the case, the GSS men, who are generally honest, said from the beginning that this was not an attack," Ahmed continued in describing the unfolding of events after Yaakov's death.

"We are still angry. The people who are supposed to protect us have simply murdered us. Now the state needs to compensate its children and recognize it as a space."

Yaakov Abu al-Qiaan's brother: "Netanyahu should come to my mother and apologize"

To the full article

"The truth has always been with us."

He explained that "we want the public to know that it was not as the police announced, they need to clear his name."

He said that "we were born in Umm al-Hiran and we are there because of the state, from the beginning they did us an injustice. We hope everyone understands that Yaakov was not a terrorist, even the policeman Erez who was killed in the incident is a space of the state, like Yaakov."

Ahmed wants the prime minister to come to Umm al-Hiran to apologize.

"King Hussein did it in Nahariya. Netanyahu can also apologize to my mother and take some pain from her heart, at least he will tell her 'we were wrong', the apology is the first thing in the process."

"We are a family in the glory of the State of Israel," says Brother Ahmad proudly.

"Doctors, engineers, educators. The fact that they said about my brother that he was a terrorist is terrible and horrible. I think the Jewish sector has already realized that this is not true and sold them stories to whitewash what happened."

The nickname "son of injustice," in which Alsheikh called Jacob, was like an arrow in the hearts of the whole family, he said.

"It hurt us, it upset me. Every time I remember it I get chills."

"Clear his name."

Raed Abu al-Qiaan, Yaakov's nephew, also agrees that the prime minister had to apologize and listen to the family.

"It's our black Wednesday," says a narrator, "I try to forgive but have a hard time, it's very difficult."

On Netanyahu's apology, he said that "better late than never, this is a first step. The prime minister should have listened to us from the beginning, only when he comes to the family and says 'I apologize' we will believe."

"We want to feel his apology," he adds, "we want him to come here and shed a tear with us. They murdered my uncle by shooting and then prevented him from being treated, called him a 'son of injustice.' It can not be".

He says family members plan to open proceedings against Shai Nitzan, Alsich and Arden: "These are the three plasterers who defamed, and showed some racist policies. In their case, even if they apologize, I will not accept it."

"Netanyahu should show us that the apology is real"

Recently, the wives and children of Yaakov Abu al-Qiaan filed a lawsuit demanding compensation of NIS 17 million in the Tel Aviv District Court by Adv. Moshe Krif, but the family claims that they will not be satisfied with that. "There is a civil lawsuit already, Criminal against the police, Shai Nitzan and who was the Minister of Internal Security, and of course a lawsuit against those who prevented Yaakov from receiving medical treatment on the spot, "Raed adds

. He had no conscience, "Raed continued.

"Netanyahu needs to show us that he is genuine in his apology and that it is not just a political game for him. He needs to come here."

"The state needs to compensate its children and recognize it as a space."

Last Wednesday, the Abu al-Qi'an family convened a press conference at which family members commented on Netanyahu's apology.

Yaakov’s son, Dr. Hussein Abu al-Qiaan said that “My father educated generations, four years ago he was killed in tragic circumstances, we are still under the sky and without a home.

We welcome Netanyahu's apology, and invite him to come here and see how we live here. "

Yaakov's other brother, Jabbar, referred to then-Interior Minister Gilad Ardan, saying that" he called my brother a terrorist just because he was an Arab, I look into his eyes Of the Prime Minister and I say to him: 'This is an important step'.

"It may be that he got on the wave, but I tell Bibi to come and see willingness and rehabilitate the family."

The Abu al-Qi'an family claimed that they intended to try to contact the family of policeman Erez Levy, who was also killed in the incident, soon.

"We have not been able to talk to them in the past, we will try to contact them again soon," Raed added.

"Policeman Erez Levy is also a victim of the incident. We want the policeman's family to know the truth about what happened that night."

According to family members, the case has been hurting for more than three years, and there are still people in whom the word Umm al-Hiran stigmatizes the locals.

"There are places where you identify that you are from Umm al-Hiran, and people take a step back," they said, noting that this is a minority and that "the majority identify with our pain."
