The Ministry of Industry announced that immediate measures would be taken to address the technical defect that occurred in Tartous Cement Company, which led to the scattering of dense dust on the area surrounding the company by stopping work in all departments and starting immediate maintenance.
In a statement, SANA received a copy of it, the ministry confirmed that a technical team was dispatched from the ministry to find out this defect and follow up maintenance procedures in order to preserve the health of the people in the villages surrounding the company and the safety of the environment from pollution, noting that the company's management apologizes to the citizens in the surrounding area and confirmed that it will take action. Precautionary measures to avoid the occurrence of such an imbalance in the future, in order to preserve the health and safety of the people and the environment.
For his part, and in a statement to SANA's delegate, the General Director of the General Organization for Cement and Building Materials, Engineer Muhammad Jaber Wanous, explained that the malfunction occurred in the tube feeding the third rotary kiln, which led to technical malfunctions at a height of 75 meters and the scattering of dense dust on the area indicating that the company’s management immediately stopped work in All departments of the company to prevent the escalation of more dust and started maintenance work that may last four to five days and will include, in addition to treating the hole in the pipe, a number of maintenance and rehabilitation works in a number of company departments, after which work and production will resume.
