In Russia, the ballot boxes were closed this evening on the combined day of the elections, after voting was completed in the Kaliningrad Province in the far west of the country.
According to Russia today, the unified voting day included 83 regions.
The head of the Central Elections Commission, Ella Pamphilova, said that the elections were characterized by competitiveness and transparency, while Alexander Gorovoy, Deputy Interior Minister, declared that no violations were recorded in the elections that could affect the conduct of the electoral process.
And the Russian voters began this morning to cast their votes to choose their representatives in local councils in various Russian regions.
Because of the Corona virus epidemic, the Russian authorities announced for the first time this year the voting formula within one day only and allowed local electoral committees to hold elections within three days, in order to ensure the health of the voters.
During these days, additional elections to the State Duma and direct elections for the governors of some Russian provinces and territories, as well as the election of members of some regional legislative bodies and local councils are taking place.
