Meanwhile, according to reports on Oman's television network, Sultan Haytham Ben-Tarek today (Sunday) welcomed the peace agreement between Israel and Bahrain, which is due to be signed next Tuesday in the White House.

"The sultanate welcomes the initiative taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain and hopes that the new strategic path will lead to peace in the Middle East based on the end of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state whose capital will be East Jerusalem," the state television official Twitter account said.

After the normalization of relations with the United Arab Emirates, the official news agency of the Sultanate reported that Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi had spoken with his Omani counterpart, Yosef bin Alwi bin Abdullah.

The two discussed the political developments in the region and the need to strengthen relations between the countries.

In addition, during his trip to the Middle East, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Sultan Ben Tarek and the two talked about continuing the momentum to promote peace and regional prosperity.
