The shooting of two police officers in the Los Angeles area caused a stir in the United States not only because of the shooting itself recorded by security cameras but because of the drama that developed at the hospital where the police officer and policewoman are hospitalized. These demonstrations led to a counter-demonstration in which they offered prayers for the safety of the police.

Tensions between the African-American community and the police have recently escalated in the wake of the riots and protests that followed the strangulation of George Floyd.

According to US media reports, a small group of protesters tried to break into the intensive care unit area where the police are being held.

Some waved African flags and went out "We hope they die".

In front of them stood security guards and armed policemen who prevented them from entering the compound.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's tweet read "Demonstrators blocking the intensive care unit's entrance and exit shouting" We hope they die "at the two sheriff's deputies shot today in the Compton neighborhood: Can not pass. "

When one of the policemen aimed a weapon at the protesters, one of them called out to him, "That's why you're dying, one after the other, a dumb piece. You'll die one after the other. It will not stop."

Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

They arrested one of the protesters who refused to evacuate and a woman who ran towards them.

It then turned out that she was a journalist.

A religious leader from the Afro-American community in the Compton neighborhood told local television that the protesters "shouted 'Death to the police' and 'Kill the police.'

The two officers, a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, are hospitalized in critical condition and "fighting for their lives" at St. Francis Medical Center in Linwood, Los Angeles County.

They were shot while sitting in their police vehicle.

A security video documenting the incident showed a man approaching the vehicle from the side and firing at the front window.

The documented shooter fleeing the scene of the shooting is under police siege and law enforcement authorities have sought the assistance of the public.

The US president responded on Twitter to a video documenting the shooting and wrote "animals that must be hit hard".
