The dining area has undergone quite a few upheavals and transformations throughout human history.

From large dining rooms in the center of heavy and carved knights' tables, it has become over the years an intimate and personal space that allows you to pause and relax a bit from the intense daily routine with a delicious dish and a glass of fine wine or enjoy the company of family members.

As such, its appearance has also undergone many changes and today it is perceived as one of the decorated spaces in the house.

The dark wooden tables and lace tablecloths we remember from our grandparents 'house or grandparents' house have in recent years been replaced by dining areas that are designed and adapted to the proportions and style of the space, a variety of innovative materials that allow them to have an architectural-sculptural look.

For Israelis, the dining area has always been the center of the house, but its status has strengthened immeasurably in recent months during the Corona period, during which people prefer to avoid the crowded restaurants and eat in the family cell at home.

"Even in the days of routine, the hospitality culture that is typical of Israeli temperament and warmth puts chairs and dining tables at the center," explains Renana Azoulay, marketing director of the furniture chain Elita Living.

The dining area is open in most homes towards the living room and kitchen and this is one of the main reasons it has become from a relatively generic and boring item to a real show.

"They are evolving and upgrading in parallel with the prominent trends and trends in contemporary interior design and I can definitely say that there are brands that produce adaptations and adjustments to the needs of populations and audiences, for example the dining areas that come to Israel are equipped with innovative mechanisms for opening the table." They do not necessarily match the practice in Europe or the US. She further notes that these shields are relevant because on top surfaces of a wide range of materials, such as glass and ceramic surfaces and also when the tables are round and oval. "This is an excellent solution especially in non-large apartments. And airy without canceling the option to host, "she says.

In most Israeli homes, the dining area is open to the living room and kitchen.

Thanks to groundbreaking materials and advanced technologies, furniture brands and designers can create tables and chairs in almost any material or shape that pleases them.

At their disposal are advanced techniques of plastic injection, 3D printers and elastic acrylic materials such as polypropylene or those that are particularly resistant to scratches and fractures such as SUPER CERAMIC or SUPER MARBLE for example.

Alongside them, the use of a variety of veneers made of natural wood, natural or painted metals and WATERPROOF fabrics is also increasing, especially in homes with children.

The look obtained thanks to them is artistic, rich in curves and natural wrinkles without sacrificing comfort and practicality.

"There is currently a trend of designing particularly inviting and comfortable dining areas," adds Azoulay.

"Some prefer to replace the" regular "chairs with spacious, wide and upholstered chairs that function as a kind of armchair. They are especially suitable for spacious spaces and given that the upholstery can be replaced relatively easily, you can use upholstery with patterns and textures that add interest and color to the space. In colors that are as balanced as possible so as not to create a formal and colorful congestion in the space. "

Furniture designer Yifrach Ben-Zvi agrees with her opinion and adds that the dining areas of 2020 as well as those that will stand out in 2021 are characterized by geometric, straight or rounded designs, which give the items a polished and architectural look.

"Both the tables and the chairs are real 'pieces'. The geometric patterns are reflected for example in impressive chairs with a high and curved seat back with lots of presence while the legs become thinner which balances the whole and gives the chair a lighter look that looks like a hovercraft."

The trend for 2021 is dining areas in geometric and straight lines.

The green trend that has been prevalent in the world for several years, but has now intensified during the Corona period, does not miss the new dining areas.

"We see the use of recycled wood and iron and even the use of railway sleepers that have been renovated and used as top surfaces. Wood has a tendency to take over because of its warm appearance so it is recommended to combine natural materials that will serve as contrast such as glass, metals in various finishes and of course skins or fabrics deer.
