Greece and Egypt today renewed their rejection of provocative actions that destabilize the situation in the eastern Mediterranean, referring to the Turkish regime's continuing exploration work in the eastern Mediterranean and violating the sanctity of Greek and Cypriot territorial waters.
The two sides warned after the talks of Greek and Egyptian Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and Sameh Shoukry in Athens today of the consequences of these provocative actions, which would place the region in the context of confrontation and fueling.
The two sides stressed the need to work together for the eastern Mediterranean to become a region of prosperity, cooperation and support for regional and international stability. They stressed the need to reach peaceful solutions to all outstanding issues in the eastern Mediterranean region, especially Syria, Libya and the Palestinian issue.
The President of the Republic of Greece, Katrina Sakellaropoulou, discussed with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry the need to find solutions to the crises in the region, restore stability and peace, and achieve prosperity for its people.
