Madonna's life brought to the screen, by Madonna herself: this is what the artist announced on Tuesday, who intends to share her
“incredible journey”
in the shape of a
“roller coaster”
.
The artist with some 40 years of career, who has broken all kinds of taboos on sex or religion, will produce this new biopic for Universal Studios, according to a statement published on his website.
Madonna will also be co-writer, alongside Diablo Cody, who won the Oscar for Best Screenplay for
Juno
(2007).
"I want to share the incredible journey that life has taken me on, as an artist, musician, dancer,"
Madonna, 62, said in a statement.
“Music will always be at the center of the film.
It's the music that keeps me going and the art that keeps me alive.
There are so many inspiring stories that no one has heard, and who better than me to tell them?
It is essential to share my life in the form of a roller coaster, with my voice and my vision ”

The press release does not specify when the film will be released, which will be produced by Amy Pascal (
Daughters of Doctor March
and
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
).
Madonna can boast of unparalleled success for a female artist: 335 million records sold, a dime a dozen awards, and more than 4,700 magazine covers in her image, according to her site.

singer
made her film debut as an actress with
Desperately Seeking Susan
(1985) before landing the Golden Globe for Best Actress for Evita (1996).
In 2011, she directed and co-wrote her first film, WE, which won the Golden Globe for best song.
Madonna's biopic will follow “Rocketman” (2019), about the life of Elton John, in which the British artist was directly involved, but only as a producer.
