This is not the first time that Ferrari has used the letter M (for Modificata) as a symbol of the evolution of an existing model.

The latest was the 2002 575M Berlinetta. Barely two years after its launch, the Portofino hardtop coupe-convertible gets a little makeover.

It adopts the latest 3,855 cm3 twin-turbo V8 that equips the Roma berlinetta.

It delivers 620 horsepower at 7,500 rpm, which is 20 hp more than the Portofino.

Another novelty, like the Roma, it inherits the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission fitted to the SF90 Stradale.

This new transmission makes it possible to optimize consumption and deliver all of the torque - 760 Nm - on 7th and 8th gear.

By the way, Ferrari prides itself on having completely eliminated the response time inherent in turbo engines.

At the same time, performance is improving slightly.

The change to the Portofino M is accompanied by redesigned shields and incorporating resized air intakes.

The burst of dynamism is particularly noticeable at the level of the stern.

The emphasis on sportiness is confirmed by the enrichment of the manettino allowing all the car's systems to be coordinated with each other and more finely controlled torque distribution.

Like the Roma, it now has five positions: rain, comfort, sport, race and ESC Off.

The dashboard remains broadly that of the Portofino.

To improve comfort, hair in the wind, the M is fitted with a three-level neck heater that takes into account the speed of the car, the outside temperature and the position of the windows.
