Live broadcast from Netanyahu's statement

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today (Thursday) in a special statement ahead of the closure of the Corona on the eve of the holiday that "I will not simply impose a closure on Israeli citizens," but "I will not hesitate to impose restrictions if necessary."

Netanyahu added that there must be no compromise in the most important guidelines - "wearing a mask and preventing gatherings."

Earlier today, Netanyahu consulted with the Corona commissioner, Prof. Roni Gamzo, as well as Edelstein, the director general of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Hezi Levy, and the head of the National Security Council, Meir Ben Shabbat.

A source close to the details of the conversation noted that one of the steps the prime minister is considering is to tighten the closure, less than a day before it takes effect.

Due to disagreements that arose in the conversation around the aggravation of the closure - La Gamzo opposes - the Corona projector was absent from the trouble tonight.

Prof. Gamzo had already issued an online statement tonight, in which he attacked the government for not being properly conducted, and warned of a breach of Ministry of Health guidelines during the closure.

"We did not build the necessary infrastructure during the first closure. Our desire to return to routine prevailed over the idea. We left the first closure at record speed, in an uncontrolled and irresponsible manner."

So he added, "If everyone looks for the loopholes and chooses which restrictions he obeys and which he does not - we will wreak havoc on ourselves," he said.

"That's why when so much is at stake - we must follow the instructions."
