Police in Mong Kok broke 4 fishing machine gambling stalls, arrested 4 presided over 18 gamblers

The Mong Kok Police District Special Duty Squad officers conducted an anti-illegal gambling operation code-named "Gathering Power" this (18th) afternoon based on information and in-depth investigations. They raided and smashed multiple units on the newly reclaimed street and Tong Mi Road in Mong Kok. 4 suspected illegal fishing machine casinos. During the operation, the police arrested 2 local men and 2 local women, aged between 34 and 41, for "managing a gambling establishment"; another 13 local men and 5 local women, aged between 21 and 63, Arrested for "gambling in a gambling establishment". The arrested men and women are now being detained for investigation. The police seized 11 fishing machines, 7 shooting game machines, an insect machine, a slot machine, a batch of game cards, card readers and approximately HK$7,000 in gambling money.

The police reiterated that according to the “Gambling Ordinance” Chapter 148 of the Laws of Hong Kong, operating a gambling establishment and gambling in a gambling establishment are both serious crimes. The former can be fined up to 5 million yuan and imprisoned for 7 years on conviction, and the latter can be fined up to a fine on conviction. 30,000 yuan and imprisonment for 9 months.
