2020-09-19T16:47:10.277Z

The young Slovenian dominated the closing time trial and his rival Primoz Roglic in the 20th stage. He will win the Tour this Sunday.

Special envoy to La Planche des Belles Filles,

Breathtaking… Primoz Roglic, the climber of the UAE Team Emirates created the sensation, this Saturday, by winning the 20th stage of the Tour de France (his 3rd stage victory on this Tour) and wearing the Jersey yellow at the end of the 20th stage, a hilly time trial between Lure and La Planche des Belles Filles (36.2 km).

At the start of the stage, Primoz Roglic was 57 seconds ahead.

A mattress which seemed sufficient to allow him to erase the obstacle, before parading on the Champs-Elysées.

But Tadej Pogacar, at the end of a sensational time, got the better of his compatriot.

As in the last Slovenian time trial championship.

The helmet askew, white as a candle, Primoz Roglic lost 1'56 ''.

Pogacar who, on the Champs-Elysées podium, will wear the yellow jersey, the polka-dot jersey for the best climber and the white jersey for the best youngster.

A collection which is reminiscent of that of Eddy Merckx during his first Tour in 1969 ...

One of the tightest laps in history

A scenario that is reminiscent of the 1989 Tour when Laurent Fignon launched the final time trial (24.5 km) Versailles-Paris (Champs-Elysées) with 50 seconds ahead of Greg LeMond who had finished by knocking him down for 8 seconds ... Pogacar winner of the stopwatch (ahead of Dumoulin and Porte at 1'21 ", Van Aert at 1'31" and Roglic at 1'56 ")

Pogacar has finally achieved the feat of being superior to an overpowered team.

The climber (21) who had lost 1'21 '' on the edge of the 7th stage at Lavaur then nibbled his delay, distinguishing himself with two stage victories (at Laruns, 9th stage, then at the Grand Colombier 15th step).

With stars in his eyes, he huffed: “I don't know what to say… I'm so proud for the team.

Wearing the yellow jersey on the last day is like a dream.

It's incredible…"

A final which makes this Tour one of the tightest in history behind the 8 seconds of the 1989 Tour, the 23 seconds separating Contador and Evans in 2007, the 32 '' between Pereiro and Klöden in 2006, the 38 '' between Janssen and Van Springel in 1968.
