The Graßlfing fire brigade needs a new fire station.

The main committee has approved a draft for an expansion and renovation - with two votes against from the Greens.

The city council will make the decision on Thursday.

Olching

- The Bavarian Municipal Accident Insurance (KUVB) pointed out safety deficiencies.

The vehicle hall is too small.

The firefighters have to change next to the fire engine and two trailers.

One cannot rule out that they interfere with one another.

People could be trapped when maneuvering.

Heating devices and sanitary facilities are inadequate.

The KUVB recommends a new building.

The members of the main committee agreed that something has to happen.

There was only need for discussion regarding the schedule for the project, which according to an initial estimate will cost around 2.2 million euros.

The Greens called for the project to be postponed until 2023.

In the meantime, the city council should check whether the fire brigades from Graßlfing and Geiselbullach could be merged.

“The municipalities have to deal with drastic revenue shortfalls because of Corona.

At the same time, we have several major projects running in Olching that we cannot postpone because we urgently need them.

That is why we have relatively little financial leeway, ”explained Ingrid Jaschke.

Thomas Bauer (CSU) contradicted: "It is very important to maintain all of our four fire departments, because the local roots are in the district." The civic engagement strongly depends on it.

In addition, the project is financially within an acceptable framework, added Maximilian Gigl (CSU).

Mayor Andreas Magg (SPD) also spoke out in favor of maintaining the fire brigades - rescue workers had to be on site quickly.

The design by Sütfels Architects from Germering provides for an extension to the fire station with a one-story vehicle hall and a two-story social wing with changing rooms, an operations center, kitchen and training room on the east side.

The fire-fighting vehicle and the multi-purpose vehicle, which is in a prefabricated garage, will find space in the hall.

The parking spaces will be 15 meters long so that the fire brigade trailers can be parked behind them and attached without maneuvering.

The prefabricated garage is being demolished.

The existing one-story building from 1986 will be retained.

The old vehicle hall is divided into three rooms: They are used for hose maintenance, respiratory protection maintenance and as a workshop.

A youth room and a warehouse will be built in the previous social wing.

The roof storage is accessed via an outside staircase.

The house is also getting a new heating system.

The planners had worked out two variants: The city councils could choose whether the new social wing should have a flat or a gable roof.

The costs were similar for both options at around 2.1 and 2.2 million euros.

“The subsidy situation is a bit sobering,” added Mayor Magg.

The city can only count on 55,000 euros from the Free State.

The members of the main committee, like the building committee before, voted in favor of the gable roof, as it blended in better with the surroundings.
