The head of the Council of Strategic Relations in Iran, Kamal Kharazi, affirmed that the US allegations and justifications for re-banning the arms embargo on Iran are "hollow, worthless and illegal" because its withdrawal from the nuclear agreement deprived it of any right to use the trigger mechanism contained in the agreement.

The Iranian Fars News Agency quoted Kharazi as saying that the United States adopts unilateralism and does not care about international institutions and seeks with arrogance to dictate its positions to others without relying on Security Council decisions, as it does now, as it threatens others to impose an embargo on them with the aim of disrupting armament deals with Iran.

Kharazi pointed out that Iran would respond firmly to any US hostile move aimed at restoring previous UN embargo decisions.

In turn, Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly MP Muhammad Mawlawi affirmed that the United States has no right to return the arms embargo on Iran to before the nuclear agreement, so its interpretation of Security Council Resolution 2231 was rejected even by its European allies.

Molloy pointed out that US President Donald Trump is doing his best to use any available mechanism to win a new term and stay in the White House, but when he has suffered successive defeats, he clings to activating the trigger mechanism so that he may be able to save himself.

Earlier today, the head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mojtaba Dhul-Nuri, confirmed that his country will stop all forms of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency within the framework of the nuclear agreement and will return its activities to what was before the agreement in the event of the return of the UN embargo on Iran.
