Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Centre for Health Protection, said that there were 13 new cases in Hong Kong today, 4 of which were local cases and 3 were without source.

The 5001st case is a 23-year-old Indian domestic helper who lives with her employer in Athens, Ma On Shan, and usually lives at home.

She had a holiday on September 14 and went shopping and eating with two friends in Sham Shui Po, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui.

The 5002th case is a 79-year-old woman who lives in Ai Hei House, Yau Oi Estate, Tuen Mun.

She started to have a fever on September 11, and during the incubation period she went to Youai Mall for breakfast.

The 5003th case was a 28-year-old woman who worked as a researcher in the School of Public Health of the University of Hong Kong. She lived in Sai Ying Pun and had eaten with friends and went out during the incubation period.

She works on the 6th floor of the laboratory of the University of Hong Kong. She is mainly engaged in clerical work. She has also conducted studies on virus inactivation and genetic sequencing, but has not processed infectious samples.

There are a total of 9 colleagues in her working place, and 6 of them had eaten with her and were designated as close contacts. Her friends and family also need to be quarantined.

A colleague once shared a computer with her. At that time, he was classified as an uncertain case. After repeated tests, the result was negative and he would be sent to the quarantine center for further observation.

Distribute approximately 330 sample bottles to the laboratory

Zhang Zhujun said that laboratory colleagues were tested weekly on weekdays, and the results on September 10 were all negative. The Health Protection Center has distributed about 330 sample bottles to the laboratory.

Zhang Xu pointed out that the researcher had been out, and it was difficult to determine where she was infected. There is no evidence that her infection is related to work.

In terms of the 9 imported cases, the 4998th case arrived in Hong Kong from Ukraine and arrived in Hong Kong on September 17; the 4999th and 5000th cases returned to Hong Kong from Argentina. All three had returned to Hong Kong by flight LH796.

The 5004th case, the 5009th case and the 5010th case all took the AI310 flight back to Hong Kong from India. 

The 5005th case and the 5006th case returned to Hong Kong by flight AI314 on September 8. The second sample result was positive.

The 5007th case returned to Hong Kong from the Philippines on September 8. It was also the second time that the sample was positive.
