Dorfen

- Jakobmayer boss Birgitt Binder and assistant Astrid Wandinger have already mastered five events during the Corona period in the historic hall, 20 are still ahead of them by the end of the year - among the artists such well-known names as Michael Fitz, Martin Frank, Michael Altinger or Claudia Koreck.

This week, comedy star Michael Mittermeier played twice in a row.

Both evenings were sold out.

Sold out means around 130 guests at Jakobmayer during the pandemic, distributed over around 30 tables in the hall and in the gallery, depending on family membership.

Most of the autumn events were already on sale before the corona crisis.

That makes the organization particularly difficult, because all ticket owners have to be contacted and the family situation asked.

“You can only have several guests at the same table if they come from the same household.

A minimum distance of 1.50 meters applies between the tables, ”Wandinger explains the regulations.

In addition, all guests are informed in advance in writing about the hygiene regulations.

Wandinger and Binder do their best.

For the performances, she and her team drag bistro tables into the hall, all decorated with fresh, small bouquets of flowers.

A wooden box is also used to loosen up, where you can put your drinks down during the performance.

That goes down well with the guests.

“Some even told me that they are more comfortable now than before, when everything was full.

Now you can have a drink in peace and enjoy the artist, ”says Wandinger.

Some would even be willing to pay a higher ticket price for these amenities.

There is no question that this is not possible for several reasons, because after all, in pandemic-free times, one wants to offer culture to as many people as possible, and the artists should be able to live from the performances.

Which is not possible at the moment.

They too would forego part of their fee at the moment - "depending on the negotiation," knows Wandinger.

Nevertheless, the events in the Jakobmayer are currently a losing business.

The city of Dorfen has around two-thirds less income due to the Corona restrictions in Jakobmayer, said Julia Neuberger, Head of Public Affairs and Economic Development at the City Hall, the situation.

“It's really not easy for the municipality,” she says.

But the city sees it as a “social task” to offer its citizens culture in difficult times.

The town hall employee does not see the autumn program in danger at the moment, "but of course we have to keep a close eye on the situation and, if necessary, advise the budget on whether improvements need to be made or events may have to be canceled".

The cost situation at Jakobmayer has steadily improved over the past few years.

“He was doing well before the crisis,” Neuberger looks back.

This is not least due to the staff.

“Ms. Binder and Ms. Wandinger are very committed.

Jakobmayer would not run so successfully without them.

We have the greats of cabaret playing.

I'll just say Gerhard Polt or, this week, Michael Mittermeier.

We as a city are very proud of that. "

“It's really an honor for us that Michael has agreed to play the same program twice in a row.

We are very grateful to him for that.

He's used to appearing in front of a much larger audience, ”said Birgitt Binder of the local newspaper after the premiere on Tuesday.

"Astrid and I are very motivated, we do it for the guests who gladly accepted the offer, but also for the artists who are thirsty to be on stage again." Wandinger agrees: "And there We like to put in a little more power. "

This is also necessary, because not only Michael Mittermeier ensures sold out houses, other artists such as Michael Altinger, Alfred Mittermeier or Martin Frank also sell more than 130 tickets.

But Binder and Wandinger are already negotiating there too.

In principle, the artists had already given the “green light” to perform the same program twice in a row on the same evening - at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

The audience has - as long as it is possible from the distribution of seats - the choice.

But for Binder and Wandinger that also means once again: making calls and inquiries.
