A package sent to the White House containing
ricin
, a substance lethal to humans, was intercepted by US security forces.
The package was addressed to President Donald Trump.

, the incident occurred earlier this week.
He also specified that two tests were carried out to confirm the presence of the poison.
Ricin comes from castor beans, which have been cultivated for centuries in many parts of the world.
In small doses it
is lethal
in case of ingestion, injection or inhalation.
Symptoms include shortness of breath, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea.
There is no antidote
and it leads to death between 36 and 72 hours.
