(CNN Spanish) -

The attorney general of the Republic of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, reported that an investigation was initiated against representatives of Juan Guaidó, president of the National Assembly and recognized as president in charge of at least 55 countries, for allegedly having charged bribes with the aim of what he defined as “asset theft”.

Saab assured that a prosecutor from the Public Ministry was appointed to initiate the investigations in order to determine whether or not there was responsibility on the part of five representatives of Guaidó, among them the former special attorney of Venezuela appointed by Guaidó, José Ignacio Hernández, in the alleged demand. payment, illegally, of $ 750,000 to the Caribbean Recovery Assets Consortium made up of LockinCapital and Global Risk Management companies in the United States, in exchange for the signing of a power of attorney through which that consortium would receive authorization from the Guaidó team to litigate for state assets in the Caribbean.

Saab did not present evidence of these allegations.

The prosecutor's pronouncement comes a few days after the complaint was broadcast on the program “Factores de poder” moderated by the Venezuelan journalist Patricia Poleo in exile broadcast on the internet.

Through a statement, the

Board

, appointed by the Venezuelan Parliament, indicated that it was never aware of, nor participated in negotiations, nor did it authorize the hiring of that company or any other for that purpose.

Guaidó, for his part, reacted through his social networks, ensuring that they are annoyed that they are not allowed to continue looting the country and that this money ends up in the millionaire accounts of his front men.

On the contrary, he assured that the money he defined as a protected goes directly to people in programs such as Héroes de la Salud.

Héroes de la salud is a program that grants a bonus of $ 100 per month for three months to doctors, nurses and workers who are in the forefront in the fight against covid-19.

For his part, Hernández, in his Twitter account highlighted that "not only did he not have to do with the alleged extortion" but, according to his version, with the ad-hoc administrative board of PDVSA, he opposed the irregular form in the which, supposedly, was awarded the "good pro" to recover accounts in Petrocaribe.

Since last July 10, the law firm selection system, for what Guaidó's team has called the asset recovery process, is governed by the Law for the recovery of state assets abroad.

Prior to that date, sources from the comptroller's office told CNN that they had managed to conclude agreements with law firms that worked under the modality of payment once the objective had been reached, considering the access restrictions of the so-called interim government to resources.

Others worked in exchange for bonuses.
