1st round of partial legislative elections: strong abstention and rout for LREM

2020-09-20T20:55:59.385Z

Nearly four out of five voters did not go to the polls this Sunday in the six constituencies affected by this first round.

The information was little shared but the citizens of six French departments were invited to go to the polls this Sunday.

Partial legislative elections were organized, consequences of the municipal elections and the appointment of the government in July.

We take stock of the results of the first round, marked by extremely high abstention rates and the setbacks of the candidates of La République en Marche.

1st district of Haut-Rhin

The stronghold of Colmar and Neuf-Brisach has a good chance of remaining in the hands of the Republicans.

LR candidate Yves Hemedinger is in the lead on Sunday evening, winning the support of 45.39% of voters.

He will face next week the environmental candidate Frédéric Hilbert (23.53%).

The Republic on the move is seriously disavowed in this territory.

In 2017, the candidate received 26% of the vote.

This time, Jean-Frédéric Baechler only collects 3%.

79.69% of registered voters did not go to the polls.

2nd constituency of Réunion

The Karine Lebon bulletin, resulting from a coalition Liberal-Radical Party, Socialist Party and rebellious France, is largely in the lead (52.15%).

Despite this majority score, she will have to face Audrey Fontaine (various right, 15.86%) because less than a quarter of those registered voted.

About 85% of registered citizens abstained.

The constituency was already owned by a leftist personality, with Huguette Bello.

11th district of Yvelines

Results to come.

3rd district of Maine-et-Loire

In this stronghold firmly anchored to the right, we will have, as in Alsace, a duel between LR and EELV.

Anne-Laure Blin (LR), former parliamentary attaché to outgoing Jean-Charles Taugourdeau, won 25.2% of the vote, ahead of Daphnée Raveneau (22.8%).

Disappointment again for the presidential majority.

The candidate Guy Bertin only finished fourth (18.4%), while in 2017, the LREM representative had climbed to the second round after having gleaned 29.96% of the votes.

The abstention amounted to nearly 82.19% in the Saumur-Nord constituency.

9th district of Val-de-Marne

The successor of the socialist Luc Carvounas will remain on the left.

Isabelle Santiago (PS) wins this Sunday evening (33.7%) ahead of Sandra Régol (17.4%), who defends the colors of Europe Ecology-The Greens.

There too, LREM did not manage to reach the second round, its candidate Jonathan Rosenblum achieving only 10% of the vote.

5th district of Seine-Maritime

The Socialist Party is in the process of retaining this constituency.

Gérard Leseul takes the lead in the first round with 39.94% of the vote, far ahead of the candidate of the National Rally Jean-Cyril Montier (18.01%).

Macronist candidate Patricia Lhoir finished third (10.72%).

The first round was marked by an abstention of 82.29%.
