The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, confirmed that he will not take any measures regarding the US request to re-impose sanctions on Iran "given that there is doubt in the matter."
Reuters quoted Guterres as saying in a letter to the United Nations Security Council today: “Despite the notification given by the United States regarding Iran's non-compliance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the Security Council has not and will not take any action by either its president or any of its members, given that there is suspicion about Issue ”.
"The presidents of the Security Council for the months of August and September indicated that they are not in a position to take any action," Guterres added.
Earlier in the day, Iran confirmed that the US administration’s allegations regarding the re-imposition of UN sanctions on Tehran are nothing more than a farce, calling on Washington to stop terrorist measures and respect international laws and conventions.
