New Delhi-Sana
Thirteen people were killed and 10 others injured today in the collapse of an apartment building in the town of Bhiwandi near Mumbai, the financial capital of the country.
Xinhua quoted the National Disaster Management Authority as saying that "20 people were rescued from the building in which about 150 people live."
According to videos posted by the authority on social media, the local administration and the National Disaster Management Authority continued rescue operations to find those trapped on the huge rubble, and the injured were also transferred to hospitals.
Last month, more than a dozen people were killed after a building collapsed in the industrial city of Mahad, south of Mumbai.
Building collapses are relatively common in India between June and September during the monsoons, with occasional heavy rains.
