China reaffirmed today that the United States' request to the UN Security Council to use the mechanism to re-impose sanctions on Iran does not have any legal legitimacy, calling on the US side to refrain from taking unilateral measures.

Yesterday, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun confirmed his country's opposition to the unilateral American declaration on re-imposing international sanctions on Iran, stressing that these attempts are "null and illegal", in a letter addressed to the President of the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
