Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov criticized today the US position on the issue of Russian opposition Alexei Navalny, describing it as "devastating and politicized."
TASS quoted Ryabkov as saying that the whole situation is politicized by Western countries, including the United States of America, adding, "I cannot say what kind of contacts the Americans make and why ... but the American approach to dialogue with us is completely politicized and to a large extent destructive." .
Ryabkov pointed out that the West seeks to form coalitions on a purely anti-Russian basis in an effort to gain points on this issue, indicating that Moscow needs information from the German side, which does not show any possibility of cooperation, and the same applies to our colleagues in Paris and Stockholm.
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned in a statement in response to the G7 statement that some countries used the case of the opposition Alexei Navalny as part of a disinformation campaign aimed at imposing new sanctions on it.
