Now that the kitchen or living room can be turned into makeshift offices, our equipment should also be adaptable.

That's what the MX Anywhere 3, Logitech's latest compact mouse, does.

As the name suggests, it is a mouse designed for portability and versatility.

It works even on glass surfaces that are at least 4mm thick.

We've been using the PC version (there's another one for Mac) for over a week and we can confirm that this little mouse is very close to the excellent MX Master 3, only in a smaller form factor and with fewer buttons.

The updated design includes a MagSpeed scroll wheel that can scroll 1,000 lines of an Excel spreadsheet with a flick of the finger.

The Anywhere 3 comes with a USB receiver that connects to your PC to facilitate the pairing process, or if you prefer, you can use Bluetooth.

There is a small button at the bottom of the mouse to switch between three paired devices.

For example, we currently have the MX Anywhere 3 connected to a Mac and a Windows 10 computer. We've been back and forth between the two with a quick press of the button.

There is almost no lag when switching devices.

A mouse for everyone

Anywhere 3 will work with almost all platforms, including Windows 10, macOS, ChromeOS, Linux, and iPadOS.

The difference between the standard MX Anywhere 3 and the Mac?

The latter lacks the USB receiver and relies solely on Bluetooth.

Using the Logitech Options software, you can also control things like cursor speed, the amount of force required to scroll quickly, and adjust application-specific button assignments.

Right out of the box, Anywhere 3 will do things like use the two side buttons to mute the audio when it detects you're on a Zoom call, or go forward and backward one page when using the Edge browser.

But you can of course configure many more functions with the application.

Logitech claims the Anywhere 3 has a battery life of up to 70 days depending on usage, but we obviously haven't had it long enough to back that claim.

We can say that during the last week or so, the charge level hasn't moved that much with moderate use, which is surprising.

Logitech's MX Anywhere 3 or the Mac specific variant are available from hpy to $ 79.99.
