The United States has imposed sanctions on elements and bodies in Iran involved in the nuclear and weapons program

The US administration has announced further sanctions against a number of elements in the Islamic Republic, including senior officials of the Iranian missile program and the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency.

"Every means has been used to halt Iran's nuclear, missile and weapons program," they said.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced today (Monday) the imposition of US sanctions against the Iranian Ministry of Defense, some of the Iranian defense industries, and against several Iranian officials involved in the uranium enrichment program.

Pompeo said these measures were intended to ensure that the arms embargo on Iran would not be stopped.

US Treasury Secretary Steve Manuchin, who spoke after him, announced further sanctions on senior officials in the Iranian missile program and the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency.

In addition, Manuchin also announced sanctions to be imposed on bodies involved in missile production in Iran.

"Every means has been used to stop Iran's nuclear, missile and conventional weapons program," Manuchin said.
