The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) of Venezuela reported in a statement that on Saturday during an operation in the José Antonio Páez municipality of Apure state, on the border with Colombia, it neutralized three camps where "structured groups of organized crime that were dedicated to kidnapping, extortion, drug trafficking and other crimes.
The FANB said in a statement issued Sunday that it also detained five "terrorists."
According to the statement, the neutralized groups "come from Colombian territory, where they move with absolute impunity and the acquiescence of the government and the military forces of that country, in permanent conspiracy against Venezuela."
Four soldiers lost their lives in the operation and four others were injured, the FANB reported.
So far, the Colombian government has not ruled on these events.
CNN is seeking a reaction to Venezuela's allegations and is awaiting a response.
