The National Ice and Snow Data Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder reported that Arctic sea ice has shrunk to its second-lowest level in history.
The analysis indicates that the floating ice cover of the Arctic Ocean was reduced to 3.74 million km² and is above the lowest extent.
