Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today (Tuesday) called on the Corona Cabinet to restrict demonstrations similar to restrictions on prayers, describing their existence as a "farce."

Demonstrations are being held against Netanyahu every Saturday with the participation of thousands of people in a number of hotspots, including the Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem and his private home in Caesarea.

At the cabinet meeting, the corona's commissioner, Prof. Roni Gimzo, recommended tightening the restrictions on closure as part of an attempt to curb the spread of the corona virus, and among other things proposed immediately closing synagogues and allowing prayers in open areas only.

Deri expressed readiness for the move, if the demonstrations were canceled.

Netanyahu called for comparing the restrictions in both areas.

"For a long time I refrained from speaking out about the demonstrations, and after hearing the experts claim that gatherings are a huge danger to public health it is my duty to address," Netanyahu said. "The whole public is required to comply with restrictions and only a group of protesters is excluded." "Meters away, but Balfour can be reached from all over the country. At the Western Wall, only 20 capsules are allowed and in demonstrations, everything is allowed."

"This farce must stop!" Netanyahu added, "Everyone understands this, even on the left. We are in an emergency. There must be one law for both prayers and demonstrations and all gatherings wherever they are. Otherwise the public will not listen to instructions and increase the morbidity to terrible proportions."

Interior Minister Aryeh Deri expressed a similar position.

According to the chairman of Shas, he will have no problem standing in front of the ultra-Orthodox public and convincing them that mental supervision also rejects Yom Kippur, but added: "But I can not understand how demonstrations are yes and prayers are not. How can this be explained to the ultra-Orthodox public?" This is the most important thing on Yom Kippur. "

However, a source close to the contents of the meeting says that as of this stage, blue and white ministers currently do not agree.

Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn agreed that "the demonstrations should be adjusted to the closure," but stressed that "restrictions should be set by a professional team and not by politicians, against whom a protest is directed. We will also support giving police enforcement powers to protesters who have improved the guidelines."

Earlier, Nissenkorn stated that "there is no same law for prayers and demonstrations. One should not connect the two but examine each one individually," he said.

Earlier, Blue and White threatened to blow up the cabinet meeting following the legal opinion commissioned by Public Security Minister Amir Ohana Dr. Aviad Bakshi forum Ecclesiastes, that the government can restrict demonstrations. However, due to the threat, Netanyahu decided that the opinion is not shown.

The opinion The private, designed to bypass Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit, has already been printed and placed on the discussion tables in the various rooms where the ministers met for the cabinet meeting in a video call. He was admitted to the yeshiva and even threatened to leave the room if the government secretariat approved his participation in the yeshiva.

Recommendations hinted at tightening the closure

  • Reduction of workplace activity: private sector - 50%, public sector in an emergency format

  • Closing of synagogues and banning wide-ranging holiday gatherings

  • Complete closure of markets (including the four species market)

  • Reducing risks on Yom Kippur - increased enforcement of the ban on mikvahs

  • If it is decided to aggravate - all aggravations must be carried out together as soon as possible
