Actively wanted since Sunday, the alleged assailant of a nine-year-old girl was finally arrested Monday, September 21 in the afternoon in Saumur, Maine-et-Loire, France Info reports this Monday.

The suspect's vehicle, a Citroën C3 quickly spotted by the gendarmes thanks to the description made by the small victim, is at the origin of his arrest, at the end of a chase on Monday afternoon.
A heavy criminal past
Already known to the police, the criminal record of this 31-year-old man living in Maine-et-Loire shows 18 convictions for a wide variety of offenses such as domestic violence, intentional homicide, theft or even drug trafficking.
He is also implicated for intra-family sexual violence but the investigation is under investigation, specifies France Info.
The latter is also suspected of a second rape, committed last Friday, on a 73-year-old woman.

Another man arrested
Michel Garrandeaux added that on Sunday, a little before noon, the same individual circulating in the region attacked a jogger in the town of Noiron in Vienne.
He would have tried to force her into his car, but noting that she would not let it go, he would have fled.

Another man was arrested along with the main suspect.

If the latter has no direct link with the case, he tried to flee during the arrest by the Saumur police.
