About 50 rural women in the villages of Western Ghor and Tal al-Shor in the western countryside of Homs have benefited from the grant of food processing units that were provided today by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in cooperation and coordination with the Homs Agriculture Directorate and the Arab Beekeepers Union.

The grant includes machines for food processing and includes machines for crushing wheat, extracting bulgur, pressing tomatoes and fruits, and aiming to improve the level of rural families by securing financial returns for women beneficiaries of the grant.

Engineer Fattouh Jumaa, Director of the Arab Beekeepers Union (Syria Municipality) said in a statement to SANA's correspondent today that these units are among eight manufacturing units distributed over four governorates (Homs, Hama, Daraa and Rural Damascus) and fall within the framework of improving livelihoods and creating job opportunities for rural women and operating as a limit. The lowest eight rural households in a single manufacturing unit, targeting rural women in villages affected by the war on Syria.

For his part, Eng. Hassan Yunis, a certified trainer at the (FAO) organization, indicated that the women beneficiaries of the grant are now training for seven days on how to manage the project industrially, commercially and marketing, as they are provided with all the theoretical information on the mechanism of working the machines and how to benefit from them in addition to practical lessons on operating Machines, methods of production, packaging and marketing in a way that achieves financial returns for them that contribute to improving the standard of living.

For her part, Layal Junaidi, one of the beneficiaries of the project, stressed the importance of such courses, which contribute to giving the trainees comprehensive and detailed theoretical information according to the latest modern methods of food processing and how to benefit from this project in achieving material savings that contribute to improving the income level of rural families.

It is noteworthy that the (FAO) organization, during the past years, in cooperation with the Homs Agriculture Directorate and the Arab Beekeepers Union, provided various free grants to support agricultural and animal production in a number of villages in Homs.
